Mounjaro stopped my hot flashes?

I'm in the throes of perimenopause, dealing with pretty regular hot flashes for a while now. I was taking Mounjaro for about a month, but then the pharmacy messed up my refill and I've been off it for about two weeks while they sort it out.

I don't think I had even one hot flash during that month on Mounjaro. Now that I'm off it, I'm constantly overheating. I'm going to ask my doctor about it next week, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

I know meds that impact weight and blood sugar can affect hormones, so it's not totally out there. Just thought it was interesting.

Constipation and nausea were manageable with meds and supplements. Unexpected: Tirz nuked my chronic neck pain and headaches. So grateful, but the day before my shot when it wears off, pain comes roaring back. Rough cycle.

Hot flashes are often linked to low estrogen levels.

If you lost some weight on Mounjaro (just guessing?) weight loss can sometimes release stored estrogen into your system. It's possible you got a temporary boost that reduced the hot flashes while you were taking it.

Have you considered hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or maybe supplements or foods that can help boost your estrogen levels and reduce your symptoms?

I'm also perimenopausal and struggling with night sweats lately. I highly recommend tracking your symptoms in a journal or calendar to see when they're happening. Mine seem less intense during my period/follicular phase and get worse during the luteal phase, which suggests a drop in hormones. I've started some new medications and am tracking my symptoms, and I'll be starting HRT soon to help with this. Good luck to you – peri is awful!

*edit to add that these symptoms started about 5 months after I started Mounjaro, but they're happening at the same time as other perimenopause symptoms.

Hey Pip46, are you taking progress pics? I blew off that advice for months and wish I hadn't. I finally took some after losing about 25 pounds, and it was a shock to see the difference. Body image stuff is so weird.

No, I haven't been. Maybe I should!

For those of you with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), have any of you been prescribed this? My wife has it and the weight loss is tough. I saw someone say they were prescribed it specifically for PCOS.

It's becoming more common to prescribe GLP-1s for PCOS, particularly if insulin resistance is a factor. However, insurance coverage can be tricky, so it's worth exploring with her doctor.

had ibs-d my whole life until this - never thought i'd deal with constipation but here we are. nothing worked till i tried chia seeds in water. never cared about fiber before and honestly couldn't tell if it was the problem because everything gave me gas. now? way less gas.

Same boat — started Mounjaro for the weight and the night sweats backed off around month 3. I had read it was anti-inflammatory in some pathways but didn't expect the hot flashes piece. Whatever it is, I'll take it.
