New KwikPens - no extra dose!

Just got an email from my chemist - new KwikPens arriving in Britain by spring 2026. No more golden dose!

Changes:

* Plunger sits lower when new.
* Plunger is longer inside.
* Pen shows it's empty after the 4th use.

I think this is all about profits for Lilly and not making things easier for us. Now it's like a 20% price increase for those of us utilizing the extra amount.

The cost is already insane... you'd imagine that because public health systems around the world could save so much money from less obesity-related problems thanks to Mounjaro, governments would try to negotiate cheaper prices. I'm probably talking rubbish, sorry. Just spent ages getting my kid to sleep.

Maybe if people weren't so loud about the "bonus dose" all over the internet, this wouldn't have occurred. The more information is out there, the more the manufacturer knows and adjusts things. Here we are!

Actually, I think you're wrong about the math. It's actually a 20% drop in total meds. That means you'll need about 25% more medicine, costing an extra 25%. Think about it like this: you paid for 4 units but got 5. Now you're paying for one more. If you pay about $400 a month, it may be closer to $500 a month. Lilly will have about $45 billion in sales from Zepbound and MOUNJARO in 2026. I'm still grateful, and I will be on it forever.

I'm actually angry about this. It's just corporate greed. The extra bit helped me go the distance.
I'm in Canada, and I assume the same thing will come here.

Am I missing something? What stops us from extracting the extra with another syringe? Or is there just no extra anymore?

That's what I want to know. I have some experience extracting that extra bit so it'll be interesting to see how they change it.

I've been getting a slight rash at my injection site the last couple of weeks. Anyone else experience that? I've been on sema for over a year, using the same needles and alcohol wipes. Never had a problem before. Should I be concerned?

A red spot occasionally happens to some people. It could be a reaction to the drug or the metal in the needle. If it's just a red spot and you don't have shortness of breath or swelling, I would not be concerned. You could try applying some hydrocortisone cream.

Yeah, there's usually a little bit left in the pen. Enough to prime the needle properly each dose. When I started, I'd try to get every last click. Waste not, want not!

know the actual mg content of each batch if you send vials for testing — use those results. yeah you rarely know the true mg but most come in around 10% either way. so aiming for 10mg usually gets 9-11mg. calculations are consistent within a batch at least. if not, different vendor maybe. safety first.
