Ozempic newbie - body shock!

Okay, took my first .25 dose Sunday night. It's now Tuesday and even sips of water make me feel like I just devoured a huge holiday meal. I just got diagnosed with T2D and started this med. I'm trying to track calories, but I'm so nauseous. Had some scrambled eggs and bacon earlier...ate maybe half. Dinner time rolled around and I could stomach maybe a quarter cup of the stir-fry I made. Seriously, is this how it will be? I usually eat like 2300 cals a day. Today I'm maybe at 500 and I feel STUFFED. How do you all track food and stuff? Any app recommendations?

Hang in there! The appetite suppression often fades. Whenever I bump up my dose (.25, .5, then 1 mg), I'm not hungry for a couple weeks. Then my body adjusts. I've been on 1mg (the max my insurance covers) for quite a while now, and my hunger is back to baseline. Use this time to build better habits that will stick with you. I started July of last year at 240 and I am down to about 155 and I am a 49 year old female

Totally normal. It'll mellow out a bit eventually. I'm almost three months in, and I still experience waves of sickness sometimes.

Protein is key to fight nausea. Inject in your thigh instead of your stomach sometimes. Also, take probiotics to help avoid constipation. Drink lots of water. Eat small meals or snacks throughout the day, even if it's just a few bites.

Yup, sounds like the usual start. It really makes you rethink what "full" means. I'd suggest keeping small, easy-to-eat snacks handy to make sure you get ENOUGH calories. Protein bars, jerky, that kind of thing. I'm about 3 months in. I eat basically whatever I want, and I'm still losing about 2 lbs a week just from the med adjusting my appetite. I use the Lose It! app. It's not bad (free with ads, premium features are paid).

Very normal! The first few days on .25 can be intense. I felt full after a few bites, and even water felt like too much. The nausea was bad at first, but it got better after a couple weeks. I didn’t stress about hitting specific macros. Just focused on small portions and protein, and didn't worry if the numbers weren't perfect. I use Mingo: GLP-1 tracker. You can log food, water, and protein, and it syncs with Apple Health for weight and steps.

I'm also on my first dose and felt the same for the first few days. I've been making sure I get enough protein with shakes and bars. I also eat oat porridge for fiber. I’m down almost 4 pounds so far (day 7). Hunger feels more like nausea for me, but it goes away pretty quickly.

I read your hair might fall out if you don't eat enough, but it grows back later? I am really trying to hit my protein goals after what everyone has said. There are some good online calculators for what your calories should be.

Liquid protein can be a lifesaver! If you're feeling super full, try a small protein shot instead of a shake. Shakes can be too thick when you're dealing with nausea.

That sounds more like a placebo effect. It doesn't usually work that quickly, and even on high doses, you should still have some appetite.

For electrolytes, maybe try LMNT? They have a variety pack so you can find a flavor you like. I've heard good things about their chocolate caramel, especially in coffee or hot chocolate.

I've been using the Redmond Relyte lately. It's cheaper than LMNT and tastes just as good. Watermelon lime is great.
