Ozempic one year later - whoa!

OK, so a year ago, May 2nd, 2024, I was 252 pounds with a body composition of 53% lean mass. Fast forward to today, May 2nd, 2025, and I'm weighing in at 172 pounds with 74% lean mass.

A year ago, walking to the mailbox left me breathless. Now, I hit the gym for an hour of weights and then went on a 4 mile hike this afternoon. It's unreal.

I've also stopped taking statins and blood pressure meds, my A1C is down to 5.1 from 7.3, I've kicked my alcohol habit (a big deal for me), and I've quit smoking (!!)

My next goal is to get my lean body mass up to 80-85%. And I'm playing a little game with my weight... my insurance cuts me off at 155, so I'm aiming for 158, haha. I've got maybe 8-10 pounds of loose skin to remove, so I'm almost there!

The loose skin is a pain. I peaked around 290 pounds, I'm 52 now, and I've been over 250 for most of the last 30 years. My arms are the worst... I'm living in elbow-length tees these days. But I'm getting my arms and neck done on May 27th! Stomach in the fall, maybe my thighs too.

This has been an incredible ride and I'm excited for the next year!

Congrats! Did you notice more weight loss once you reached the highest dose level?

That's a fantastic question! I did, but I was also working out harder and eating way better. It's hard to say what was the biggest factor.

Bruising started below belt after procedure, little swelling on one side. Recovery harder than they say. Still walk like I'm bent over but getting better.

I ran 5mg daily for three weeks, then repeated. Honestly the reconstituting was a pain so I stuck with that amount. Heard some folks do cycles with way higher daily doses but never felt the need to push it.

Can't say for most of what you mentioned, but bulk shipment tracking's been wonky for me too with all major carriers. They scan labels and dump them in bins. Next leg, just the bin gets scanned. Every now and then something falls out or gets in the wrong bin and weeks later pops up on the other side of the country getting rerouted back. Seen it with FedEx and UPS too. Strange to have all these problems on one order though.

There's also a sublingual epinephrine option coming out soon that works as well as the IM shot. As someone in medicine I usually suggest the Auvi-Q because it has voice guidance if a patient can't respond, plus it injects way faster so less chance of someone yanking the pen out early.

weight loss that fast does make face changes obvious — same wrinkles and hollowing you'd see from any 50-lb drop. keto took me a year to lose 50 and I got major wrinkles and sunken cheeks. switched to tirz and lost more but my face didn't change as much.
