Ozempic success...now what?

Down 50 lbs, yay! I'm basically at my goal weight, but I'm TERRIFIED of stopping the injections. I'm scared I'll just gain it all back immediately!

I know some people are scared of long-term medication use, but honestly, the risks of obesity are often higher than the risks of staying on a GLP-1. It's a personal decision, but something to consider.

5 weeks in and the scale keeps bouncing around between 214-216. Might grab a tape measure to see if I'm shrinking even if the pounds aren't moving fast. The dizziness is annoying but blood pressure stays solid at home.

Ozempic helping me out now but I know I've got some food habits to work through eventually. It's about picking the right approach for each specific issue.

Same here. Used to go through coffee like it was water, now I barely finish one cup. It's wild how much the medication changes your relationship with everything, including caffeine.

Started w/ a goal of 225 but adjusted it multiple times til i felt happy and healthy. don't lock in a number right away — you've got room to figure it out as you go. sounds like you're doing amazing!

Fear of stopping at goal is the near-universal maintenance anxiety. Berberine as insulin-sensitizer support after the tirz work makes sense as a step-down protocol.

Amazing result! The fear of stopping is real - how long have you been on it and are you still on the same dose you ended with? Most people here plan to stay on maintenance rather than stopping entirely.

5 years on Ozempic and gaining back on 2mg is the version where the tolerance picture has shifted significantly. The OP's fear about stopping is reasonable given what happens when the medication stops - the answer isn't cold turkey but a maintenance dose or a switch to a different mechanism that's still effective. What happened between when it was working well and now?

Gaining weight during the Ozempic-to-Reta transition window is the piece nobody mentions when planning the switch. A month to find the effective dose on reta while the sema clears is a rough stretch to manage. For the OP at goal and terrified of stopping, staying on a once-a-week maintenance dose rather than stopping cold is probably the path that avoids that kind of gap entirely.

The fear of stopping when the underlying biology hasn't changed is completely rational. The motivation question at maintenance is actually different from the motivation during active loss - the urgency is gone and the medication's role shifts to holding the ground rather than taking it. What does 'motivated' look like when you're not actively losing weight anymore?
