Ozempic: Unexpected Perks?

Stress is KILLING my appetite control. I'm dealing with big work problems and feel the urge to emotional eat everything! Is this normal?
Yes, stress definitely messes with those hunger signals. Cortisol will do that. Try ashwagandha or magnesium glycinate. that helps

75 lbs with that combination over 18 months is a strong result. The appetite side going that quiet at 2mg is consistent with what some people report at the upper dose. Beyond the weight - any of the other effects people mention on Ozempic, mood or energy or anything like that?

Year on Ozempic and at target weight since December is the end result. The alcohol interest going away is the unexpected perk that keeps coming up and the response tends to be outsized compared to what you'd expect from the mechanism. Did the shift happen gradually or was it more like a switch?

Weight Watchers as the foundation for learning to eat before or alongside the medication is an underrated combination. The OP's cravings changing and other unexpected effects are the layer that happens on top of whatever food habits you brought in. The ones who built some structure before the medication tend to do better on the behavioral side than the ones who start with no framework.

Absolutely! That's honestly a big reason I've stuck with this medication for maintenance, less pain overall, easier breathing, and no longer sitting right at the edge of a sleep apnea diagnosis either. All wins in my book!

It definitely does. Plenty of research backs up Ozempic reducing the pull toward alcohol.

There's a study out of a brain research foundation specifically looking at semaglutide cutting heavy drinking and cravings in adults with alcohol use issues, worth searching up if you want the details.

Same here honestly, used to eat like there was no tomorrow, which probably explains the type 2 diagnosis. Ozempic's really kept me from overeating like that anymore, lol.

Wait, so it genuinely does curb hunger for some people? Been running 2mg Ozempic for two full years and it never touched my appetite at all. Brought my A1c down, sure, but weight-wise I only shed about 15 pounds. Went from 310 down to roughly 295.

Ran Ozempic for roughly two years, with a six or seven month gap in between due to other financial priorities (paying entirely out of pocket). Initially lost 40 pounds, then regained 60 once I stopped. For me, Ozempic mainly quieted that mental food chatter more than anything else. Appetite itself was never really my struggle, but coming off the medication brought that hunger roaring back constantly. Getting back on it shut down that ravenous hunger and quieted the noise once more, though it still never really made me fill up faster.

Currently running 1.25mg, essentially the 1mg pen combined with the 0.25mg pen. Used to pay around $284 sticking with just the 1mg pen alone, but both pens together came out to roughly $275 for me. Barely any side effects the whole time on Ozempic, aside from occasional dry heaving maybe once every couple weeks first thing in the morning. Haven't had that at all this month, and no GI issues either despite bracing for them at the higher amount. Also noticed certain foods, especially anything fried or greasy, just don't appeal anymore.

Weighed in on July 3rd (I only check once monthly, first of the month) and I'm down 11 pounds since then (yes, I snuck a peek early to see

Ozempic definitely melted the weight off, but getting through those side effects was genuinely brutal. Still worth it since the weight's stayed off and my eating patterns settled into place. Running Mounjaro now for upkeep, a full year in with nothing bothering me. I skip meals sometimes without meaning to, but leaning on lean, healthy choices keeps everything on track.

Yes, I know. That's why reta and mounjaro seem like overkill for me with all their metabolism boosting. As I understand it, ozempic mostly works on food noise, cravings and slower digestion, so I'd love to hear from anybody in my spot whose eating evened out on ozempic.
