So, I started keto *before* Ozempic to get my blood sugar under control. Dropped 100 lbs, but my A1C was still high. Then, the meds came in. After that, it was basically salads, lean protein, shakes, and bars. I really stuck to 30g net carbs a day for a year while on the medication. I also hit the gym 6-7 days a week with hiking, rucking, and boot camp workouts. I really needed to up my protein and fats. I lost another 60 lbs.
My A1C hit 5.0 while on the shots. Since stopping, I've been mainly keto-vore, and it went down to 4.6, plus I gained 10 lbs of muscle. On the shot, my appetite was still there, but I made better choices.
I used to love cookies, cake, donuts, ice cream... all that junk. The cravings are totally gone now. I’ve been off for a year, and I have no desire to eat that now. I love chocolate and will have a little every once in a while, but I'm satisfied after just a bit.
If I want something sweet, I'll eat some high-fat Greek yogurt with allulose or even butter. It seems the meds did some sort of reset in my brain. I honestly love to work out and be outside instead of sitting on my butt and stuffing my face with junk food. Hope this helps.
I started at 375 lbs, unable to do any real exercise. I got down to 213 and was gassed doing push-ups and couldn't do any pull-ups. Now I'm 220 and in the best shape of my life at 49 years old.
