Reta & Mood Swings?

I saw someone on Reddit say that they felt less angry outbursts while on ozempic because it seemed to level them out, maybe reduced brain inflammation? I never thought about it but that's interesting...

That's interesting. Maybe losing weight helps your mood in general.

It's tough when you can't use food to cope anymore. I saw someone asking on Reddit about what people do for dopamine now since food doesn’t work anymore. Some answers I saw:

* Shopping (even just window shopping)
* Gardening
* Exercise
* Perfumes

I think I'm going to try some of these things!

huge congrats, that's a huge win! i lost 100lbs on 2.5mg in 8 months too, but ate 3x a day instead of once. low intensity cardio 7 days a week, cut all sugars except fruit, chicken, salmon, tuna, veggies, just water and decaf. stick with it and stay proud of the work you put in.

started low (3-400mcg), then found Anela's protocol. went up to 600mcg 3x day for my size. that's when pain meds stopped working as well.

Mood swings are real and often underreported on GLP-1s. Early days post-injection seem to be when it's most noticeable for most people. Delayed gastric emptying can affect how other medications absorb, which matters if you're on antidepressants. For Reta specifically, the effect hits harder in early doses. Electrolytes and water around pin day help more than expected. Most people find it smooths out as they adjust to each new dose. Tracking it relative to injection day is useful data if you need to bring it up with anyone.

Anhedonia and the flat-affect period in the first weeks is well-documented enough that it has its own pattern - most people report it lifting around week 3-4 for starter dose, but the window varies, and if it hasn't shifted by week 6 it's worth discussing with a prescriber whether the dose or timing needs adjustment.
