Reta noob - dosing questions

Hi everyone,

Just took my inaugural Reta shot today. Thinking of doing a 6-week run at 1mg weekly, splitting it into two doses: 0.5mg Monday and 0.5mg Thursday. My reasoning is that a more consistent level might be better than one big dose. Does anyone think splitting the dose like this is pointless? I'm also hoping it'll make the come-up smoother than a single dose.

I'm also on some other peptides. Injecting everything into the stomach area, just north of the beltline.

Is that where everyone else injects?

Lastly, should I bump up to 2mg (weekly) after the initial 6 weeks? I've read varying opinions, some saying 2mg is plenty, while others go up to 12mg weekly. Would love to hear what you guys think.

Thanks!

Most folks around here get to 2 mg pretty quickly. But some are hyper-responders and stick with 1 mg longer, and some even start at 2 mg or ramp up super fast.

Don't forget to switch up your injection spots.

Planning dosages so far in advance isn't ideal. You don't know how your system will react. You just took your first dose; it hasn't even kicked in. You have no idea if you'll get side effects or if such a small dose will even work.

My strategy: I take a shot or increase the dose, then wait until right before my next shot to decide if I need to lower it because of side effects. (Never had to do that, thankfully.) After four shots at a certain dose, I decide whether to stay there or increase, based on how I feel. Eventually, I want to increase to levels used in official studies, the ones that are most effective... but I want to take it slow and easy.

Keep a log of the date, shot amount, weight, and any sides. I went with the standard protocol at first. As I went up, I got some nerve pain and cramps for a couple of days. So, I reduced the dose until the pain eased off. Then my weight loss stopped. So, I switched to injecting twice a week and then went up until I saw results again. But the nerve pain reappeared. Then I switched to injecting three times a week. That worked for a couple of months. That was a 2, 2, 3mg dose. Now, I'm at 3, 3, 4 for a total of 10mg per week, and I'm losing about a pound a week. My main problem is appetite. I almost looked into Cagri because I was getting frustrated. But 10mg seems to be working.

I don't understand how some people stay on a couple of mg a week. Unless they don't need it for medical reasons and are already in shape and go to the gym every day. They must want to lose the last few percent to show their abs on Instagram. I'm also 5'10" and 210lbs. I guess a smaller person closer to their goal weight needs a lot less.

Agree with Yuki_56, don't try to plan too far ahead. You can't predict your response, any side effects, etc.

I'm curious where you heard you don't need to go above 2 mg / week. I'm not convinced 2 mg is even a therapeutic dose. It's not that you *should* increase beyond it if 2 mg is working, but planning to stop at or before 2 mg doesn't make sense.

I started at a super low dose, 0.5mg every 3 days, mainly because: A.) I was a total newbie. B.) I was clueless (still am, probably). Now I'm on 1mg every 3 days, and weight loss is still happening. I'm 5'9, 44, SW 216, CW 187.

I inject Reta in a rotation around my belly button.

I'm really liking the Shotsy app. The free version is great. You track the dose, injection zone, pain, notes, weight. You can also set reminders. Plus, there's a graph to check out your progress.

RE: Planning your doses

Go wild. Make spreadsheets. Share your data. Let your nerd flag fly, haha.

There are tons of options if you're doing your own experimenting. Even with tirz, the dosing schedules seem too slow, waiting four weeks before upping the dose. Then you've got the microdosers who think a small amount is a therapeutic dose.

With reta, various trials use different schedules.

Here's a summary from Google Gemini (which misses some things):

Thanks a million for taking the time to reply. Yeah I think you're right, my plan was to do 0.5mg for the first week, then if no sides pop up after a week, I'd bump it to 0.5mg twice a week and stick with that for a month. If I see steady progress and no bad reactions, I'll go up to 1mg twice a week and stay there 'til things slow down.

Sound like a decent plan?

Thanks for the reply. I got a notebook to keep track of stuff. What do you mean by "published protocol"?

10mg does sound like a massive amount but I guess if that’s what it takes to see results then that’s what it takes. I’m guessing I might need something similar as I’m 6ft 1 and around 215lbs.

I’ll stick to my plan as stated in my reply to the above comment but judging by your response I’ll probably be titrating up quicker than expected, fingers crossed no horrible side effects.

Thanks a lot for replying. I’ve never heard of Shotsy so I’ll definitely have a look at it. It's interesting to hear how everyone's doing their shots and how often they're injecting etc. Before posting here, I thought twice a week was unusual.

If your current dose is working, stick with it. If not, increase it. Wait four weeks at each dose before upping it.

It's not a bad strategy Happy_Tracker911. I just meant trying to plan too far ahead. We can't know how our bodies will react. You might get sick, you might not lose weight... or maybe it'll be perfect!

There's no real need to dose more than once a week if you can handle the side effects. The drug was designed for weekly dosing; it's more effective that way. Stick to the same dose for at least 4 weeks to reach a stable level in your system.
