Six Month Reta Check-in

Hong Kong Yanpep International
65 pounds on Tirz before adding Reta and sleep not affected is such a clean experience to report! The 15mg ceiling on Tirz is exactly when most people make the move to Reta. Six months in is a great milestone - how is it feeling compared to the Tirz-only days?

A 27% bodyweight drop already, and that's while running below-clinical amounts of both reta and tirz. Tirz just doesn't have great data behind it for pushing past a 25% total loss. Makes sense to lean into reta instead. Worth committing to a solid 12mg reta amount and dropping tirz entirely. Expect the pace to slow from here, but there should still be steady movement. Also watch food choices closely, since edging toward 30% total loss isn't typical territory. Running reta doesn't mean eating carelessly if the goal is past that 30% mark. That's a lot of weight. Even five pounds a month at this stage still counts as solid progress.

Good luck!

Agreed, prior experience isn't a prerequisite for solid advice. Open to hearing the reasoning behind Tirzepatide as the stronger pick when the aim is squeezing out the most possible weight loss.

When I began on Tirz chasing that same objective, published data suggested Reta actually outperformed it on average, which is what pushed my own switch from Tirz over to Reta. Since then, headline Phase 3 results dropped, widening that efficacy gap even further.

Based on my own numbers, thirty weeks in, 210 days since starting peptides, I'm down 72 pounds, roughly 25.5%. First DEXA scan happened 23 weeks back, most recent one five weeks ago, next scan lands Monday next week. Between that first and latest scan, lost 39 pounds while shedding under 2 pounds of lean mass. Expecting that lean-mass figure to tick up slightly in next week's results.

People running 8mg reta ended up losing a bit over 20% of their bodyweight across a year roughly, while the 12mg crowd exceeded 25%. So really the starting point is figuring out your own target weight (not sure of your height here) and working backward from there. Worth remembering that timeline stretched across 48 weeks in those results, so patience matters. For reference, took me about a year and a half to hit 30% bodyweight loss running both tirz and sema together.

Good luck!

Starting point: 255lb
Where I'm at: 174lb
Span: February 20th, 2025 through now (holding steady around 174 since March though)
Approach: kicked off on 2.5mg tirz, climbed the doses gradually.
Currently: week two of 15mg tirz

Considering the jump over to reta, or maybe scaling back tirz and running a mix of low-dose reta alongside a low or mid tirz amount (to clarify, not looking for anywhere to source it, just want to hear what others have gone through trying reta after years running tirz and hitting a wall, basically trying to find a way to get the number budging again.)

Averaged roughly 2 pounds weekly on tirz, was originally aiming for 185 but switched the target to a normal-BMI number of 163 instead.

One thing I've read about reta is possible heart rate concerns, so keep an eye on that if you go that route, though it edged out tirz in total percentage lost during trials.

Tirz treated me really well though, right around plus or minus 25% over seven months.

I'm similar, 57, never worried about weight until my 2018 hysterectomy, then the weight crept on year after year and suddenly I'm 60 lbs over. Reta began 6 weeks back, coming up on this Sunday, and 12 lbs are already off. 2mg weekly was my start, and 4mg began last Sunday. It's been a lifesaver.

Nearly three years on reta. A full year with no loss on 10 mg weekly. I suspect my body adapted and it's maintenance now, though I'd like to shed a minimum of 5 more pounds. My scale swings 2-3 lbs monthly. Tirz and sema wrecked me with side effects. Reta I love, and I'm afraid to add anything, since if it stops working completely I'd have to research something new. Big plates are still out of reach for me on reta, no binge eating, which used to be my curse.

6'4", 54 y/o male, started at 350, now 220, goal 190. Began tirz around summer 2024, two months, then switched to reta. Reached 225 in twelve months, and all I did was inject, no diet or workouts. I stalled at 225, and reta's appetite suppression faded after about a year. Added carg roughly 9 months ago and I've held 220-225. Stack now: reta 12mg each week, carg 2.25mg split across doses.

Nearly 14 months in. Tirz was my first and I loved it, then I stalled badly at class 1 obesity, and about 7 months ago began layering in reta while adjusting tirz. Looking back, I could have raised reta faster, but I feared sides at work. Steady loss returned only at 6mg, roughly five months back. No other peptides, but I take HRT for perimenopause (started before tirz). At the point reta joined, 40lb remained. Losses are slow again with 20lb left. My target is halfway through the healthy range for my height. The number matters less than a buffer from the fat zone, so doctors stop blaming everything on my weight. Best of luck, tell me how it goes.

Honestly I haven't felt any difference during the switch attempt, appetite and energy stayed the same. On tirz I was stuck at 100kg no matter what, training 7 times a week and in what I believed was a deficit, which is why I brought in Reta. I only weigh myself weekly or every few weeks, so we'll see if it shifts. Side note, I seem to have found an underlying liver issue my GP missed. My bilirubin was high for a long stretch and nobody followed up. Since starting Reta it has dropped 25% toward the safe range! I'd heard Reta is great for clearing fatty liver, but this is fast. Another blood test is due in 2 months, when I'll be 2.5 months in rather than 2 weeks, so I'm curious.
