Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience as someone who's lost weight slowly on this journey, hoping it encourages others in a similar boat. We see so many amazing transformations, but it can be discouraging if you're not dropping weight as quickly. Don't give up!
I'm also super proud of my progress, and outside of my partner and my closest friend, no one knows I'm using Wegovy. I generally don't talk about weight publicly because I believe all bodies are worthy of respect and acceptance, regardless of size. So, I'm happy to share here!
I've lost around 55 pounds, but it took me about 22 months, averaging about half a pound per week. I went from a UK size 16 to a size 10-12 (US size 6-8).
Stats: 34 year old British woman, 5'11.5"
Start weight: 216 lbs, BMI 30 (Jan 2022)
Current weight: 163 lbs, BMI 22.7
My initial goal was 157 lbs, but I'm pretty content where I am.
I'm buying Wegovy privately here in the UK. I haven't been dieting per se. Now that the food cravings are less intense, I'm focused on intuitive eating. I really like the Japanese concept of Hara hachi bun me, which is eating until you're about 80% full. I try to stop when I'm no longer hungry rather than stuffed. I still indulge in treats occasionally and don't restrict too much, because I want this to be a sustainable lifestyle change.
I used to try every diet fad, and I could never maintain any weight loss.
I exercise 1-2 times a week doing weights, and I play golf on weekends, although my job is mostly desk-based.
I had very few side effects, especially now that I've been on it for so long. Maybe the first 2-3 months I dealt with some nausea and stomach issues, but I'm also dealing with recovering from gastritis and post-gallbladder removal issues (my gallbladder was removed in 2020, before I started this medication), so it's difficult to pinpoint the cause!
If you're also a slow loser or just starting out, I hope this helps you be patient! It's been almost 2 years to get to this point.
