Slow Progress? You're not alone!

Hey everyone! I started trying to lose weight back in September '22. I used Saxenda at first, paying out of pocket. My insurance wouldn't cover any weight loss stuff. I ended up buying from a Canadian pharmacy, but even then, I couldn't afford the highest doses, and the postal strike made things even harder, so I skipped doses sometimes.

I switched to Amble and semaglutide this February. It was tough seeing others drop weight super fast while I was just inching along. I had to remind myself to be happy with any progress and, more importantly, to keep the weight off.

Today, I'm down 53.8 lbs! It's been a huge change. So, I'm proof that even if you're a slow responder, patience and a healthy lifestyle pay off. Focus on yourself and what you can control.

Starting Weight: 212.4 Current Weight: 158.6 (I'm 44 and 5'3")

UPDATE: Some people questioned my 'strange' pose in my photo. It's just how I stand, no Photoshop involved! I added more selfies to prove it.

Congrats on your success! I needed this post today. I'm only losing like, half a pound a week and it's discouraging. I'm also paying out of pocket and on a mid-range dose because of the cost.

ONE MORE THING!

I've struggled with my weight since childhood and had an eating disorder. Weight loss isn't a magic fix for everything. I used to think it was, but I've learned that happiness comes from the people in my life, personal growth, and life lessons. Losing weight has made some things easier, like shopping for clothes. But those who say things like 'you'll gain it all back' are just projecting their own issues. Don't let anyone shame you for using these meds. They're just haters.

Thank you for this! I've been feeling so hopeless lately with zero progress. I just upped my Wegovy to 1.0, fingers crossed! 🙏

ALSO, you're 44?! Seriously?! You look like you're 25! 😲

Wow, what a change! You must be feeling great. I've definitely been a little bummed by how slow my progress has been – started in Feb and I'm only about 15lbs down. My weight seems to fluctuate... But I can see it in my face and neck and feel it in my tummy and legs so I'm celebrating even this little bit. On 1.4mg now, going up to 2.15 next week.

I started semaglutide in April of '24 and I've only lost about 30 pounds. BUT it's been the best 30 pounds of my life. I went from almost a size 16 to a size 10. I feel like myself again. So even though it's been slow and expensive, I'd do it all again. If I hadn't started this, I'd probably still be a size 16, hiding in my house in sweats. So while I wish I was at my goal already, it's been a good journey so far.

Plus, I keep telling myself that the slower the weight loss, the better chance my skin has to bounce back, and I'll have less loose skin.

Same here... my progress is so slow. But it's forcing me to learn more about exercise! I'm really committed to my routine now, which I'm proud of!

I really needed to see this post today!! My progress feels so slow - even though I’m on the lowest dose right now. I definitely feel the appetite suppression and I'm eating at a consistent caloric deficit, but still not much movement on the scale! I just need to keep reminding myself to stick with it.

You look fantastic, congratulations!!

And not to mention I tell myself, hey the slower the weight loss the more time my skin has to shrink back and the less loose skin i'll have.
That is a really good point! I never thought about it that way. I'll try to keep that in mind.

I agree with ScaleVictory about the exercise! It's been a game changer for me. Even small changes, like walking more, make a difference. I've also started tracking my blood glucose with a CGM to see how different foods affect me.

Wow, you all are inspiring! Seeing your success stories, even the slow ones, gives me so much motivation to keep going. Maybe I'll start tracking my food more closely. Thanks!
