when i first got these pj's they fit way different and now they're loose after mounjaro weight loss. starting this was the best decision ever. so much happier and can do way more. down from 354 to 250, got a long way to 140 but i'm here for it.

Hey everyone! I'm beginning my Mounjaro journey this Friday and I'm looking for any advice from those who've already walked this path. I'm aiming to shed about 65 pounds.

Any tips you wish you had before starting? How did you manage side effects? What diet or lifestyle changes were most effective?

Honestly, the best thing I did was find a good online community! I literally spent days absorbing everything I could from other people's experiences. Super helpful.

Try searching for threads with keywords like "start," "first," or "newbie." There are tons of people asking the same questions, so replies may be slow. Or just scroll and see what catches your eye!

Seriously, you will learn a ton.

Don't try to keep eating the same portions as before. Your digestion is slower now. Small meals every few hours are better. Avoid greasy, sugary, or super processed stuff, or you might get sick. Hydration and fiber will really help with constipation. Load up on protein. You don't need fancy gadgets or supplements. Relax, don't get hung up on diet fads, and eat healthy. Read the discussions here. Best of luck!

I asked the same thing a few weeks ago. Someone suggested a podcast that explains how these meds work and how to take care of your metabolism. It's been really enlightening.

Try not to worry too much! Many people find the injections painless and have little to no side effects. You'll probably be just fine. Best of luck!

I wish I'd realized how much better I'd feel using this medication. Sure, there are side effects, and diet/exercise are still important. But having something that makes all that effort actually PAY OFF is amazing.

Steady weight loss is the key. I've been on it for about 8 months and lost around 50 pounds. I've already noticed loose skin and some hollowing in my face.

So, i just had my first dose last Friday. Saturday was... strange. Kinda nauseous and hungover feeling. My appetite vanished Friday night and stayed gone the entire weekend. Food was just food. Good choices were easy to make. Now, just three days after the shot, my appetite is slowly creeping back, which scares me because I don't want to revert to bad habits. I read that this is normal and it will take a bit longer for my appetite to return as the medicine builds up. Staying hydrated is tough, but it's been a little easier lately. Like someone else said, I had a small breakfast before my shot, and it was fine. Nothing major. I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress! Good luck!

I wish I'd known that probiotics can really help with digestive issues (nausea, throwing up, upset stomach, heartburn, burps, reflux – all that!). A daily yogurt is good, but I added supplements when I realized how well probiotics work. Start now!

Also, psyllium husk helps both with diarrhea and constipation, which are both common. Start that now too!

Greasy, rich, sugary, or spicy foods will likely go right through you, no matter how much psyllium you take.

And alcohol and carbonated drinks aren't your friends. The bubbles in carbonated drinks can be especially awful with the slow digestion. You'll just feel super bloated for a while.

Great question! Track your protein from day one. Your appetite will drop fast, and most people end up eating like 800 calories of junk instead of getting enough protein. I aim for at least 150g a day. If you don't, you'll lose muscle along with the fat, and it'll show.

I started last Friday too. Don't feel any real difference yet. No noticeable side effects. It might be placebo, but my sugar cravings are less, and I feel full with smaller portions. Honestly, it's probably placebo since I'm only on the starting dose, but who knows. Either way, I'm focusing on protein-rich meals and smaller sizes. I also bought fiber gummies, a multivitamin, and probiotics. Trying to do this right and get the nutrients I need, and I've read that probiotics can help with side effects. Good luck with your start!

Prioritize fiber and protein at every meal! Stay active and keep up with hydration, this is a long term commitment, not a quick fix.

The nausea has a bit of a morning sickness vibe without the actual vomiting.

One of my favorite late-night snacks is air-popped popcorn with seasoning. Old Weight Watchers trick.

You're better off having real Parmesan cheese for protein than a protein bar. 50g of Parmesan has 16g of protein. Beef or turkey jerky's great too.

If nothing sounds good, try new foods outside of your usual choices. Korean and Japanese cuisines have lots of amazing vegetable side dishes and high-protein options you can modify.

Remember it's a long journey and that you will appreciate it if you stick to it (I'm at 2.5 years). I have previous posts that document my journey.

I got impatient pretty easily. Weight loss varies. Periods of fast loss are likely followed by slow periods or no change for weeks.

It took me 73 weeks to reach my goal the first time.

I love that you are starting, OwlLady!

I’ve also purchased
Restora-fibre Gummies, a multivitamin, and probiotics. I want to try to do this the right way make sure I’m getting the nutrients I need even if I can’t eat them and I’ve read multiple times that probiotics help with side effects.
That is a GREAT idea. I wish I had started the probiotics before I felt sick lol

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful suggestions!

This is great advice, and something I hadn't considered at all. I will need to track that!

I agree, OwlLady, protein is key! Also, don't overthink every little feeling at first. The first week is more mental than anything. Just stay hydrated and eat light.
