Starting sema - will 0.25 do anything?

Just adding that I've seen people lose a significant amount on the starter doses. Someone on another forum lost 93 pounds on .25 without counting calories!
That's amazing! It really highlights how different everyone's body is. I'm glad I found a dose that worked for me without tons of side effects.

Eat eggs daily plus a McDonald's double cheeseburger most days. That's my protein. Then add fruit, veggies, sometimes yogurt. More focused on calorie deficit while hitting protein goals.

Started at 0.25 too and felt behind - then realized one month in I'm just on a slower timeline now. Takes patience but you'll get there.

Week in and feeling better than I have in months, honestly. Still cautious about calling it a win yet but the direction is good. Also looking at vesilute as a next move. Where'd you find yours?

0.25mg is the loading dose - most people don't notice meaningful appetite suppression until 0.5mg or higher. The 4-week window exists to let the GI system adapt before the effective dose arrives. Watch for GI patterns at 0.25mg, not appetite shifts.

0.25mg is the GI calibration step, not the therapeutic dose - most people don't notice much effect there. The real appetite suppression starts at 0.5mg and beyond. Four weeks at 0.25 before stepping up is the standard ramp.

A lot of folks stay at that starting dose for a while and still see results, the whole minimum-effective-dose idea really varies by person. A friend of mine dropped about 8kg without ever going above 0.5, so it's not like you're locked out of results without pushing to higher amounts.

Assuming this is the standard injectable version, 0.25 mg is meant as the entry dose, so four weeks in doesn't really make you a non-responder. Snacking a bit less and filling up quicker could already be an early sign, just a subtle one so far.

If you doubt the doctor's advice, why not just look into starting low? Doctors recommend a low start because side effects are far stronger when you begin high than when you step up gradually. I've never heard of someone beginning at 1 mg, and it might really knock you flat. My only side effects hit during week one on 0.25mg, several days of feeling really ill, and nothing since then. Starting at 1mg would have been terrible for me, I think.

How did that go? Last month my first Sema dose was .25mg, and it soon turned out to be way too much for me. I'm now doing .125mg two times a week, and lately I tried three times to test whether a small bump works. (I'm also taking Reta)

That's exactly why you start low, so your body can adjust gradually. On semaglutide I began w/ 0.25 mg for four weeks, 0.5 mg, then 1 mg, and eventually two mg. Now I'm on 2 mg & everything feels completely normal. My side effects were mainly in the initial month and they've fully settled.

From what I understand, the semaglutide label says steady state takes about a month to five weeks of weekly dosing, so until then the level is still climbing and the first weeks are the ramp, not the setting. That's why an honest duration can't be given by anyone here. Early weeks measure something different from month three. A log of your observations with dates is more useful than a total, since your doctor can read a pattern.
