Tirzepatide death link?

BBC is reporting a nurse in Scotland died, and they're saying it's "linked" to tirzepatide.

They mention she might have had some kidney issues previously too.

(Not a doc, just saying) Seems like she probably had some underlying stuff going on because of her weight, ya know?

Also not a medical expert, but blaming the tirzepatide seems a little far-fetched. I bet we'll see a lot more stories like this pop up as more folks start using GLP-1 meds.

I think we're going to see a lot more deaths associated with these meds, either directly or indirectly... Sort of like with COVID.

Yeah, I was surprised it happened so soon after only the second dose. So sad for her family, but there might have been another health problem that already existed.

GLP-1s HAVE to be crazy dangerous, right? All us fatties just have a moral problem, not a medical one, so the solution SHOULD be a punishment! If it's harmless and easy to get, it's not a REAL punishment!

I expect to see a LOT of articles demonizing these drugs. 🙄 Confirmation bias.

Local guy dies after using his left hand to open the door. Doctors say he had organ failure. The cause of death is unknown, but he had just started using his left hand to open doors.

Pancreatitis is a definitely a risk, so it's possible. But being obese is dangerous too. I've seen too many family members suffer strokes and heart issues to worry too much about a slightly raised risk of pancreatitis.

I just don’t get the hate. If these drugs were magically melting fat like you were some kind of Olympic athlete - I'd be SUPER suspicious.

But they mainly just make you eat less, doesn't seem very invasive or risky to me. 🤷‍♂️

But it's a CHEAT CODE! You're supposed to just try harder and pull yourselves up by your bootstraps! It can't possibly be that bad blood sugar and insulin issues make you hungry and overweight. Then we'd have to rethink our ideas about fatness being a character flaw!

Sorry for the rant. People want to think it's dangerous because it's hard to believe the answer is this simple and we struggled for NO reason.

Here's my experience. I've lost around 100 pounds twice without meds. But, unless I'm super dedicated and watching everything, I gain it back. I always think about food. I love food. I'm tired of working so hard, and I'm still considered overweight. I'm hoping this will give me a chance to lose the weight and keep it off for good instead of this up-and-down thing I've been doing for a decade.

For the first time ever, I wake up and I'm not immediately thinking about what I'm going to eat. I can eat until I'm full and save leftovers. I can go to a restaurant and not order a bunch of stuff. It's amazing.

Trying new things is fun and satisfying. I wish restaurants did sampler plates more. Like how some bars do beer flights... I like that.

Cheat code? A car is a cheat code for walking. Nobody minds that. Lots of things in life are cheat codes.

Some people think naturally thin people are just scared they'll have nothing to feel superior about. Eventually, technology will get to the point where there won't be any overweight people unless they want to be.

It's one of those things people don't get if they haven't lived it. Everyone feels sad sometimes! Everyone loses stuff sometimes! Everyone feels anxious! Everyone gets tired! Everyone is late sometimes!

All that is true, but it's harder for some. Shouldn't the goal be to make things easier for everyone? Make the world better? Why make someone struggle when we have a solution?

I don’t get some people's thinking. 🙃

Headache, take something for it.

Broken arm, get a cast.

Tired, sleep.

You COULD solve all of those with willpower... well, you need sleep eventually.

Why waste half your brainpower on discipline when you can get a shot once a week and put that energy into work, family, and things that matter? 🤷‍♂️

But yeah, let's shame people for choosing the smart path. 😁

Someone said to me, "Isn't that the easy way out?" And I was like, yeah, I hope so! Why WOULDN'T I want the easiest way to drop pounds?

Totally agree, it's just people feeling superior.
