Before stumbling upon tirzepatide, I was totally clueless about peptides. I'd seen "Ozemptic" and "Zepbound" mentioned, but figured they were either expensive treats for the rich or essential for folks with diabetes issues. Even though I was carrying an extra 35 pounds, I was managing my career and health. Then, a month ago, I tore my bicep during dips, sidelining me for at least 2 months. That's when I started researching "Zepbound" and went down a rabbit hole.
Like many, I didn't qualify for brand-name GLP-1s, so I tried a telehealth service. It was pricey! I found more affordable compounders. I've learned how to mix, filter, and load the medicine into pens. Tomorrow marks my 6th week on tirz (from a compounding pharmacy).
My first pharmacy started me at 2.125mg, but the next one only offered 2.5mg. I've had no bad side effects so far. My weight loss slowed this last week, but I still feel the appetite suppression. I'll stick with this dose. If I increase, it'll be gradually, to 3.5mg.
My biggest problem now is eating enough. I'm barely getting 1,100 calories a day (mid-40s male, 200lbs). I drink a big protein shake in the morning and a small one at lunch. I snack on 12 slices of turkey with mustard and low-fat yogurt. Dinner's usually baked scallops, salmon, or shrimp with garlic and lemon.
Here's my week-by-week weight:
Week 1: 211 lbs
Week 2: 206 lbs
Week 3: 205 lbs
Week 4: 203 lbs
Week 5: 201 lbs
Week 6: Weighing in tomorrow, but this morning it was 201 lbs.
I'll continue for another week. If my weight drops, I'll stay put. If it stays the same or goes up, I'll consider increasing the dose.
