Trouble with a buddy's injections :(

My friend is trying compound sema because I told him about it. He got it from some site I found with decent prices and all the supplies from that big online store. He's done like a half dozen shots but says he can't push the plunger down. I've had that happen when the needles weren't on tight, but these are the all-in-one kind. Anyone know what's up?

If I've got pressure issues, I vent the syringe *without* the needle. It balances things out. Then I can try again, injecting air equal to what I'm about to withdraw. So, vent, then, say, inject 0.5 ml for a 50-unit dose, then pull out the 50 units. Works for me, but let others weigh in.

Maybe he's hitting a tough spot, like dense tissue. Tell him to try a different place.

Seriously, people need to try stuff themselves sometimes.

Even more reason to use a pen. Prefilled syringes aren't ideal from a cleanliness perspective, especially if they sit around for weeks.

Are they being kept frozen, as they should be? And is the one he's using fully thawed?

Move it to the fridge a day before using. Then, pull back the plunger, push it to the right dose 'til a drop forms, then inject.

Can you explain the problem better? Is he having trouble drawing from the vial, or actually injecting? Try an empty syringe first. Does the plunger move smoothly? How much force does it take? Lots of cheap supplies out there. My compounding place uses Easy Touch 31 gauge needles. Never had a problem. Still using them after almost a year. Vials are often under pressure. Inject air before you draw. Some stoppers aren't great, making it tough to draw. And welcome to the forum!

I agree, but many weight loss places tell you to freeze their "compounded" GLPs. They give you the first dose there and send you home with prefilled syringes (telling you to freeze them) so you'll keep coming back monthly $$$$.

It's not a living thing... so no cellular level.

For tirzepatide, a Discord group study by Janos showed freezing didn't hurt purity. They did 4 freeze-thaw cycles and tested it at start, middle, and end.

I think freezing GLP-1s after mixing is fine in a sterile vial, and reasonably safe in a prefilled syringe if you're careful.

Okay, smartass. How about on an atomic level? Correcting me doesn't change that freezing messes them up. You're encouraging dangerous stuff. And if Jano was so great, he'd be at Pfizer. He's doing tests for chemicals from some shady lab. He's not exactly a well-known scientist working from a basement.

Considering what he charges and how much business he has, I bet Jano is doing just fine in his lab.

The Tirz test is just one sample, but it's good news for Tirz (but not others) after freezing/thawing a few times.

After seeing that, I put some compound vials I'll probably never use in my freezer. They're from last year, so freezing might degrade them, but it's better than leaving them in the fridge for a year or more.
