Two months after stopping mj - maintenance update

Time for my second month update after stepping away from mounjaro, following the initial post covering titration and workout plans. Got helpful feedback last round too. Current weight sits below where the last dose left off, well under the original starting point. Body composition keeps improving per my scale, muscle climbing while fat drops. Kept the eating pattern going that leans on protein and whole food, still allowing richer options occasionally, family does a weekly fast food night. Loose skin remains an issue, especially where two pregnancies left their mark, saving toward surgery eventually. Biggest help through this has been staying at a modest dose that still let hunger through occasionally, using that mild suppression as leverage to build lasting habits. Cravings picked up somewhat around three weeks off medication, stuck with the meal plan regardless, and pull toward junk feels weaker now since none gets kept around the house. Happy to field questions.

Not quite at maintenance stage yet, but has posting this in a dedicated maintenance-focused community been considered? Might get some solid input there.

Seeing weight hold steady for a few weeks after stopping is genuinely reassuring. Gives real hope that maintaining results doesn't have to feel like a constant uphill fight.

Hit my goal weight of 136 at the start of the year, a total of 84 pounds down. Was running 5mg, dropped to 2.5 for a couple weeks, then stretched shots out to every 9, then 12, then 14 days before stopping completely mid-April. Maintenance has gone pretty smoothly so far, though it's only been 70 days since that last dose.
Staying within 2 to 4 pounds either side of goal, shifting a bit based on the calendar, whatever I had eaten the day prior, that kind of thing.
Overall really solid results, my old problem used to be eating past comfortable fullness and snacking constantly through the night, while on MJ I broke those habits, learned actual portion control, and started eating more balanced meals.

Congrats, though this reads like more than 50 lbs to me. Since you said your heaviest was 289, that's an 88 lb gap. Did you actually start mounjaro around 250? If so, how'd you handle the first 38 lbs?

Six months on MJ, then I stopped, and things went fine for roughly 8 weeks before a steady gain. I also held a lot of water weight from inflammation, hence I returned on a super low dose just to fight the inflammation and hold my weight steady. Smaller doses cost less too, which helps a bit. No fix here, just wanted you to know you aren't alone.

barelysteady_0ad9 Thanks a lot for posting, this helped me enormously! Goal weight arrived recently (on 5mg) and I'd like to leave MJ the way you did: step the dose down until it's basically nothing, then, once I'm comfortable, reverse diet slowly toward maintenance calories (I eat roughly 1500-1600 now and can't guess where maintenance lands). Glad it went well for you! The whole process actually excites me, and having a firm plan feels great. Two doses remain in my current 5mg pen, and the plan is 2.5mg with the next pen. Let's see what happens!

I've been off mj since 21 November. The initial water weight came back, but since then I've mostly held within a couple of pounds either way. A couple of real gains (not fluctuations) happened, yet I refocused and shed it again. I've tried to keep the routines I built during the jab and mostly succeeded. I weigh twice weekly instead of daily to hold myself accountable, because previously I avoided looking. My biggest problem is when I skip my routine longer than 24 hours, it takes ages to find my rhythm again.

went on mounjaro, lost 35 pounds, then stopped abruptly. body hated that, rebounded 14 pounds within a month, mostly water and glycogen plus some inflammation. went back on, lost it again within six weeks, then tapered slowly over two months before stopping. still rebounded about 14 pounds anyway. takeaway: lose a chunk, roughly a third comes back regardless. after that i dieted the old way since i didn't want another round on mounjaro. took three months, way more effort, slower, and more mental space on food math, but i got there. since then i've trained harder and eaten more to support lifting, slowly adding some fat back. sticking to whole foods keeps calories low enough that i can eat plenty and still feel satisfied on a modest maintenance range. processed food changes that fast though

57 here, lost 17kg in about 5 months, 96kg to 79kg, and im 5'11. Plenty of it was muscle, i always carried extra for my size. I stopped mounjaro to see what happens and put on 2.5kg in 2 months, mostly from poor eating like chocolate. Half of that would probably have come back anyway. Not enough exercise played a part. Had I been stricter and gone back to training i think id have held it. I restarted Mounjaro this past week. Weight is falling again, appetite is lower and food doesnt interest me. Going 6 weeks with it, we'll see.
