Wegovy price cuts?! (with a catch)

So, Novo Nordisk announced they're supposedly slashing prices on Ozempic and Wegovy by half... but not until 2027.

Here's the breakdown:

* Wegovy: Around $1350 monthly dropping to roughly $675.
* Ozempic: About $1030 monthly also down to around $675.

The catch? You're paying full price 'til 2027 if you don't have insurance. It's still good news overall, though. Lower prices mean more users, so the discussions here about protein, lifting weights, and keeping muscle are even more important. Anyone else holding off until prices decrease? Or have you noticed a difference being on them?

It's ridiculous what you guys in the States have to pay. Here in Australia, I pay about 250 dollarydoos a month for a private Wegovy script, and 150 for Ozempic. On the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme), Ozempic's only 7 dollarydoos for diabetics.

I got excited until I remembered this probably doesn't apply to Canada. I'm paying $260/month... Over $600? Are you serious?

Pretty sure those prices kicking in 2027 will still be AFTER insurance. I heard you can find it for under $200 out of pocket since late 2025.

I'm hoarding and stretching doses to get the most out of each pen. Once the price drops, I'll use it as intended! It's up to them...

Heard China dropped prices already from January 26th. Mounjaro is like 80usd per pen, maybe less from public healthcare. And that is before any health insurance.

I saw an article about lawsuits related to severe side effects... makes you wonder. I mean, they list all the potential problems right in the insert, and the pharmacist explains everything. I just wonder if people ignore the risks. My doctor is super careful, keeping me on a low dose and monitoring side effects. So far so good, but it's still concerning.

I just read that generic Ozempic might be coming to Canada soon! That would be amazing for those of us without coverage. Hoping it actually happens and brings the price down.

That's great news for you guys up there! The more affordable options, the better. Hopefully, it will also push down the brand-name prices.
