On calories, I've stayed around 1500-1700 daily on average, recalculating my TDEE regularly as my weight shifted throughout. Since I weighed considerably more at the start, my deficit ran bigger naturally back then versus now, despite eating a similar amount these days.
Also focused on building habits I could genuinely sustain long term rather than going to extremes.
Exercise-wise, nothing intense at the outset. Mostly walking early on, just finding ways to move more throughout the day. As weight dropped and energy climbed, staying active got progressively easier and honestly more fun.
