GLP-1s + weightlifting = 💪?

I'm down 170+ pounds and feeling like I'm finally hitting my stride! This whole journey with tirzepatide has been life-altering. It gave me the push and belief in myself that I desperately needed. Flash forward almost 3 years and I barely recognize the person I was before. I'm currently on a slow taper, hoping to be completely off GLP-1s in maybe 4 months, fingers crossed my blood sugars cooperate. 🙏

My number one piece of advice for those just beginning: GLP-1s are a tool, not a miracle. If you want long-term success, you *still* have to put in the effort. Change your eating habits, embrace a healthier lifestyle. GLP-1s just make it easier to stick to it.

Also, START LIFTING WEIGHTS! Especially my fellow women! Don't buy into the idea that tirzepatide melts muscle – *any* weight loss can cause muscle loss if you don't eat enough protein and lift. I've *gained* muscle while losing weight.

Congratulations, you look amazing! You’ve really inspired me to start lifting more.

I have some dumbbells at home, but I don’t use them as much as I should, even though I know I should be.

You've revealed such beautiful bone structure! I totally agree, this is one of the most impressive transformations I've ever seen. Congrats!

Look at those guns!!! Check it out!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Well done you!
Keep at it!
The internets are proud, and I hope you're bursting with pride too!

I've been reading about the importance of muscle mass as we get older. Did y'all know Dr. Gabrielle Lyon talks about it being vital for longevity and fighting things like obesity and heart issues? Seems like

I had a DEXA scan done recently and it was super eye-opening. Seeing the actual numbers really motivated me to focus even more on building and maintaining muscle. I found a place that does them locally, but I also saw BodySpec and DexaFit are well-known chains.

I'm so glad you mentioned strength training, Kerry_2001! I've been researching ways to optimize muscle retention while losing weight. I came across an article discussing using tirzepatide along with some other therapies, like TRT, plus a solid exercise and nutrition plan. It's all about finding the right balance!

Okay, you've all convinced me! Time to dust off those dumbbells and get serious about weightlifting. Any tips for a newbie?
