My GLP-1 Story: Jan-Oct

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Started Wegovy in October and gym 3x weekly starting January - made a huge difference. Finished an 8-week challenge with body scan at start and end, dropped 5kg but gained 1kg muscle.

A quarter of body weight in 8 months and then maintaining for years with the statin stopped as the end result - that's the complete picture right there. The Jan-Oct trajectory in the OP is right at the start of what that looks like long term.

0.9 lbs per week average over 18 months without dramatic swings or big stalls is actually the steadiest version of this path. The biggest week at 3.5 lbs is the typical water weight pattern. 30 lbs from a 151 starting point is proportionally significant at 4'11''. Great result.

218 to 200 on your own before reaching the stall point is the work that sets the foundation. The medication breaking through a year-long stall is exactly what the OP's January to October story shows can happen. 4'11 going from 151 to 121 is a significant percentage of bodyweight. What dose unlocked it for you after the stall?

Worked here, for what it's worth. Was sitting at 7.5mg and plateaued, then a health scare forced a full month off the medication. Restarted two weeks back at 3.75mg, dropped 8 pounds that first week and another 4 the week after. So yeah, it kicked back in for me, though everybody's body handles a pause differently.

Eight months into this now, three weeks running 10mg currently. Saw absolutely zero change on 2.5 through 7.5, neither on weight nor blood sugar (I'm diabetic). Did notice a slight quieting of food noise through that stretch, just nothing showing physically even while eating noticeably less and clearing every processed or junk item out of my kitchen.

Started assuming this compound just wasn't going to click for my body, then one single week at 10 and 8-10 pounds vanished along with sugar levels falling fast too. Only downside is the side effects hit hard, nausea and constant bathroom trips, whereas 2.5 through 7.5 just left me constipated, which honestly I preferred! Want to drop back to 7.5, but that dose gave me nothing weight or sugar-wise, so hoping my body eventually adjusts to this new level instead.

Appreciate you sharing that. Our paths sound nearly identical. I'll hit 1.25mg in three weeks, so fingers crossed my own progress kicks off around then too. Considered switching at one point but the whole process felt like too much hassle, so sticking with what I've got. Wishing you all the best going forward!

Honestly think the weight-loss angle of this took off so fast that the medical field wasn't fully ready for it. The medication itself has existed a while, just not specifically marketed this way, so probably plenty of providers were still going off the original diabetes dosing guidelines. The doctor here gave standard guideline directions to follow. Tried moving up a level per that schedule and it was genuinely rough, so the decision got made independently to drop back down. Stayed at that lower amount for three months. Went back and told the doctor no further increase until things stalled, and got agreement on that. Guessing some independent reading had happened by then too.

These forums have helped a lot. Still haven't moved up further since quality of life matters more than rapid loss here. The stomach issues that show up aren't pleasant. That said, plenty of people sail through without any side effects at all. Probably a couple years from now there'll be way more medical education around this given how widely it's being used. Hopefully that all turns out positive.
