Oops! Maybe Went Too Hard on Reta...

Started at 0.5mg Reta...first week...nothing much. Bumped to 1mg the next week. Still nada - no changes in appetite or anything, no side effects either. This week I went to 1.5mg...and yeah, regretting that. Just feeling kinda queasy all the time, which isn't exactly what I was going for in appetite control. Going to drop back to 1mg on Sunday, I guess. Ugh. Haven't been able to hit the gym this week either, and eating feels like a chore. Not fun. For reference...I'm 50, male, 6'1", currently at 242. My goal is around 210. I'm a bigger build and work out a lot, so that'll be fairly lean for me. Lesson learned!

It's always smart to understand the half-life of any peptide you're using. For those with longer half-lives, like Reta, use a GLP-1 plotter to see how the concentration builds in your system beyond the injected dose. It can take around a month to reach a steady state on a dose, so wait at least five weeks before increasing. At the 1.5mg dose, you probably had about 1.75mg circulating. Search the forum for 'GLP plotter'; there are some decent trackers out there. Some apps do this too, but be aware of their privacy policies.

I did the exact same thing! I was stoked that I finally got past my weight loss plateau on Tirzepatide, but I got super sluggish and achy, like, immediately. I was working out super consistently for a year, and then just stopped because I didn't have the energy or motivation. I'm gonna go back down to 1mg for a while even if it means I gain a little weight, just so I can feel normal again.

I did something similar with Tirz a while back. I increased the dose a little too fast, and my body was NOT happy. It wasn't a good week. But I definitely respect the need for self-control now. Knowing what can happen has kept me from repeating that! Hydrate and make smart food choices this week. Hope you feel better soon, @ATL_Lois!

It's worth remembering that these medications don't work in isolation. If you haven't addressed underlying issues like diet and exercise, you might just be masking symptoms temporarily only to rebound later. Tolerance can develop, necessitating higher and higher doses, which comes with increased risk of those unpleasant side effects. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

@Nikki_92, totally get that. I was doing both but then the sluggishness really killed my gym time. Hoping to get back to it once I get the dosage dialed in.

Hey, newbie here. I'm 21, kinda overweight (6' and 265lbs). Been on Reta for two weeks. First week was great at 500mcg every 3 days. Now I'm at 1mg once a week, and it feels like nothing! My food cravings are back, and my appetite isn't suppressed much. I'm trying to eat mostly protein and fat and cutting back on carbs. Am I doing something wrong?

As a general note, it is wise to explore lifestyle changes before messing with your body chemistry, especially when you're only 21 years old. The body has an amazing capacity to heal and regulate itself, as long as it gets the right signals from the mind. Some may need medication but they're in the minority.

Ramadan fasting and healthy eating must clash hard with appetite chatter, I'd imagine. Maybe you're undereating and your system isn't functioning right? Or missing proper nutrition impacting your response? Focus on fiber and protein while cutting sugar to stabilize glucose. Only thing I got.

Good you're okay. That was scary. Keep the titration super gradual. 50mg of those compounds is way too much in my view. Research shows they're short amino chains that nudge your system to work naturally with gentle signals. Lower doses work better.

Upper thighs are worth trying. The angle feels different from belly at first but most people prefer it once they adjust. Rotation matters most when dosing frequently - give any spot a couple weeks before returning.

1.5mg in the third week is too fast for most people's tolerance curve - stepping back to 1mg to let the GI adaptation catch up before the next increase is the right call.
