Reta + Sema Together? Thoughts?

Hi everyone,

I'd love to hear about your experiences combining different GLP-1 medications. I've been using them for a little over a year and I've managed to drop about 85 pounds. I began with semaglutide from a local clinic, and switched to tirzepatide when it became more affordable. A couple of months ago, I switched again to retatrutide after finding some research peptide sources.

I'm currently taking 12 mg of retatrutide each week. Unfortunately, my weight loss has slowed down a lot, and I still have about 50 pounds to lose to reach my goal. I've always struggled with snacking, and I'm finding that retatrutide isn't suppressing my appetite as much as I'd like. Semaglutide was the best for appetite control for me, but I know retatrutide has some other advantages. I'm a little hesitant to try cagrilintide, given the warnings about side effects, especially since semaglutide gives me the appetite suppression I want. So, here are my questions:

1. Since 12mg of retatrutide is the highest dose used in the clinical trials, should I avoid going higher to get better appetite suppression? Has anyone here gone beyond that dose?
2. Since retatrutide and semaglutide are similar but not identical, would it make sense to combine them? Maybe taking them a few days apart?
3. If I add semaglutide, should I lower my retatrutide dose? If so, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I was on 11mg Reta and added a small amount of Sema, around 1mg, to help. Keep an eye on your blood sugar, as mine dropped a bit. Eating four smaller meals throughout the day helped. This combo helped me go from 220 to 180 lbs.

Wow, those are amazing results. I dropped 110 pounds with semaglutide but stalled last year. This week, I started retatrutide at 2mg combined with 1.25 mg semaglutide. I'm hoping to drop another 40 pounds.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought about the potential effect on blood sugar. If I try this, I'll definitely start monitoring my blood sugar levels regularly again.

HormoneHacker Thanks, and good luck to you too! Do you plan to reduce your semaglutide dose as you increase your retatrutide beyond 2mg?

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I've been on Wegovy 2.4 and my weight loss has stopped. It's probably the winter weather messing things up. I've lost 70 pounds (from 320 to 250, and I'm six feet tall) and I want to lose another 25.

I've been using GLP-1s since late November of last year. My insurance has been a pain—I started with Wegovy, then they switched me to Zepbound (yay!), but then made me go back to Wegovy last summer (boo!).

Many people combine different GLP-1s. I decided not to combine them, but I found that a small dose of cagrilintide, along with my 3mg of retatrutide (each once a week), worked well for me when I started maintenance. I stopped the cagrilintide in late November and I'm continuing to maintain my weight with 3mg of retatrutide once a week. Cagrilintide usually provides solid appetite suppression.

Yes, my plan is to lower semaglutide as I increase retatrutide. I decreased to 1mg semaglutide after my fourth dose of 2mg retatrutide. I'm going to increase to 4mg retatrutide next week and lower semaglutide to 0.50mg. I want to lose 30 more pounds this year. I can increase semaglutide as needed, but I'm getting good appetite suppression right now.

I stalled for 2 months on reta 8mg. I tried increasing the dose of reta but had side effects (diarrhea) so I had to cut back. I had lost 100lbs on reta 8mg. I added sema 1/2 mg 2 weeks ago and the weight has started to move again. I plan to increase the sema to 1mg.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I started with .25mg of semaglutide 3 days after 10mg of retatrutide. It's been 3 weeks, and my appetite suppression is much better, and my weight loss is happening again. I'm going to stick with these doses for a while and increase the semaglutide dose slowly if I need to.

Thanks for the update T2D_Warrior_Jane. I'm thinking about taking the plunge and stacking reta with my Wegovy/sema. I want to accelerate my weight loss a bit—I've been losing around 4 lbs each month for the last few months.

I'm also on metformin. My doc says to keep taking it with my GLP-1. Apparently they work differently in the body. I've even been able to stop taking insulin, but I'm still on metformin.

I've heard some people have success with Tesofensine, but be careful.

I inject 10mg reta with 1mg sema every 6 days without any problems.
Like someone else mentioned, it can give you a lot of energy, but it can also mess with your sleep really badly.

That's interesting! I was taken off metformin when I started Ozempic. Maybe I should ask about going back on it as I experiment with stacking.

TDEE maintenance for me is 2700 but I eat 1800 M-F then whatever on weekends, prob 2500-3000 with Saturday higher. Basically doing a refeed diet without knowing it. Lets me stay restricted M-F knowing extra days are coming. Not getting cold or unable to focus though.
