Sema maintenance after 1 yr - success!

Around March of last year, I started on a tiny dose of semaglutide, spacing out the injections to once a month or so. I've kept it up mainly because stopping suddenly isn't recommended, plus I think it helps with inflammation. Now, almost a year and a half later, I'm not getting any side effects at all. I've managed to keep my weight stable just by making some simple changes, like walking every day and doing some strength training for half an hour. I wasn't really an overeater to begin with. In fact, I was undereating for years, which I think messed up my metabolism. The great news is that my metabolism seems to have recovered. I can eat two or three proper meals each day and still not gain weight. It's such a relief. My ultimate goal is to stop the shots altogether, but for now, I feel really good.

That's awesome! You look fantastic.

I'm hoping to drop around 35 lbs and have been on this for about 5 weeks. I'm sticking to a low dose because I want this to be a tool to reinforce healthy eating habits, instead of just killing my appetite. Anyway, congrats! You must feel amazing! And you're gorgeous, too!

Congrats on all the effort, it's a really good feeling to nail maintenance! With sema, I feel like it's the first time I've actually finished a diet for good, and it's amazing! Enjoy the success! I'm on the starting dose every two weeks, and that's been enough to maintain since January, but I'm still a little nervous about stopping altogether. Maybe one day.

Great job, you look amazing. When I was working 12-hour shifts as a nurse, I dropped about 45 lbs and kept it off. But when I went back to grad school and wasn't exercising, I gained back about 15. You've gotta exercise or walk at least 7500-10000 steps every day and avoid greasy foods, or you'll balloon up again. Peace

Thanks so much, everyone! So encouraging to hear. @Lean_Pizza Congrats to you as well! Great to hear maintenance has been manageable.

You look great!!! I'm a bit confused by your description though. Are you still on the minimal dose, or did you go through the dose increases and now are on a maintenance dose?? I'm not trying to be nosy, just curious. You look fabulous though! 🧡

I'm coming up on my 3-year "anniversary" on this medication, and it's wild to see how much things have changed. It's been a real mind trip aligning my physical self with my mental state, but it seems to be getting there.

For now, though, I genuinely feel like my best self.
That's amazing!

@In_The_Making To answer your question, I never really increased the dose. I stayed on the lowest possible dose, and now I'm just spacing them out even further. I'm hoping to eventually stop completely, but I'm taking it slow!
