Suddenly... normal?!

Hong Kong Yanpep International
tons of things could be playing a role in gaining. are you in a deficit? did you recalculate your tdee? what dose and is it time to go up? exercise and strength training? enough protein and fiber? bloodwork show any nutrient gaps? tracking blood sugar? talked to your doc?

I really have to focus on 'what people think of me is none of my business.' But it's hard. Got skinny-shamed by a client the other day. There's no win—overweight? Fat phobia. Lose weight? 'Are you cheating, are you sick?'

First dose and already getting the signal - that's the response this medication is designed for.

that immediate first-shot response is the experience that hooks people. feeling it at the starting dose when you expected to wait for 5mg is genuinely surprising. knowing the difference between satisfied and actually hungry is the recalibration that takes weeks to fully trust.

the food noise going quiet after shots 1 and 2 and then mild food noise returning by shot 3 is the early plateau that catches people - the first hits tend to be stronger and then it normalizes as the body adjusts. the 'suddenly normal' feeling the OP has from the very first shot is the strongest version and it usually settles to something a bit less dramatic after a few doses. still going in the right direction though.

the vasovagal-before-bowel-movement presentation is worth distinguishing from other GI symptoms because the mechanism is different - it is a reflex response to the urge rather than a direct medication effect, and managing it involves relaxation technique rather than dietary change. the gallbladder mention is worth taking seriously; GLP-1 does affect bile release patterns and gallstones are an elevated risk with rapid weight loss, so symptoms that include upper right quadrant discomfort warrant imaging

Stay with it, you're on the right path. Felt strong myself starting at 2.5 too, and my body responded similarly with hunger and food noise. A bit odd though that blood sugar control still isn't happening even at the higher amounts for you. Did your doctor offer any explanation?

Felt that exact way that first week after starting 2.5, no interest in food whatsoever. But your system adapts and the sensation fades into something much milder, eating becomes enjoyable again rather than a chore.

These days it mostly shows up as feeling content on smaller portions of regular meals and snacking way less. Still holding at 2.5 after ten weeks.

My suggestion would be sticking with your current plan and watching for any shifts in response over your next few shots.

Only just started this Monday so my experience is very fresh. That said, appetite's completely gone and I'm considerably heavier than you at 112kg.

Same thing happened to me! Felt my appetite shut down within four hours of that very first shot, wild experience. 20lbs gone in the first two months!

Only a few weeks into this, so it's all still vivid. Those opening days weren't nausea exactly, more like carrying a brick in my gut. Eating felt like a chore, food held zero appeal. Pushed through by keeping to my planned menu, forcing down high-protein, high-fiber choices to hit roughly 1200 calories daily. That eased up as the week went on, and by the next shot day I noticed the faintest hunger pangs returning.

Second week followed the same pattern, just milder. Eating got easier, and by day four I was actually hungry come dinner. Enjoyed a solid meal shot day with zero guilt :)

Couple things worth mentioning: 1) my eating was already high protein and fiber going in, so nothing new there. 2) this stuff makes me incredibly gassy. 3) water constantly. Aim for at least 40 oz plain, maybe more, it's genuinely made a huge difference for me. 4) stocked up on gas relief tablets, antacids, and a stool softener, needed all three at different points. Gas relief tablets most.

Lastly, drinking: things just don't taste as good anymore, and beer's basically off the table entirely thanks to bloating.

Hope your mom finds this to be the game-changer it's been f
