Tirz hives... anyone else?

So, I've been on tirz for about 3 months now, and it's been going pretty well. No side effects, which is awesome. But then Thursday and Saturday morning I woke up with hives on my legs that just kept getting worse. Benadryl wasn't doing squat, so I had to call telehealth and get some prednisone. It's been a stressful week, so maybe it's just that, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had something similar happen and figured out it was the tirz?

I haven’t experienced that personally, but I think I recall seeing others post pics of comparable reactions.

Tirz can indeed trigger hives, eczema, and other skin issues. You can try over-the-counter antihistamines like Zyrtec or Allegra, taking them together. I'm a nurse, and telehealth could prescribe oral corticosteroids. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I got some prednisone – taken three so far – plus Allegra and Benadryl. Seems like I'm finally starting to improve. Really hoping it's just stress and not the tirz causing this.

It's interesting that you mention hives, @Chris_79. While tirzepatide is generally well-tolerated, hypersensitivity reactions can occur. Prednisone should help calm the inflammation. Keep an eye out for any other symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, which could indicate a more serious allergic reaction requiring immediate medical attention.

I've been on semaglutide for about six months now and have dropped about 55 lbs. I'm currently at 176lbs. It’s been pretty amazing. I track my progress with a graph - it's so motivating to see the line going down! Congrats on your journey @Chris_79! I hope the hives clear up soon!

Hey @Drew_19, congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome! Hoping these hives go away soon. Was starting to feel really good about things before this.

Yeah, I agree with @FastingFam, stress can definitely cause hives. And @Chris_79 keep an eye on things, as @HeartCoffee said, any breathing issues, get to the ER immediately.
