Tirz isn't working for me... help?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Opposite for me. I used to get daily headaches but not on tirzepatide. The only theory is decreased inflammation somehow affecting brain or vessels. Wonder if that change triggers headaches in other folks.

Sometimes I wonder if people would call me out for the third person thing. Jimmy's hitting a wall... Jimmy's med stopped working... Jimmy's frustrated now.

I'd typically suggest betaine HCl plus pepsin for this - cheap and often effective. Reflux paired with burping sometimes points to low stomach acid. If your pH isn't dropping enough, it won't signal the esophageal sphincter to seal. Though with reduced gut motility, you might be dealing with fermentation instead, where probiotics could turn the tide. Really hinges on what you're consuming.

The frozen reconstituted issue is worth investigating if efficacy has dropped. Degradation after freeze-thaw cycles is real - the consensus here is to avoid freezing reconstituted peptide. At week 3 of 12.5mg with no movement, storage and reconstitution process are worth checking before assuming dose failure.

no appetite suppression at 3mg week 7 and still losing from exercise and habits is actually a useful thing to share in this thread. for the OP on tirz - some people just do not get the suppression effect and have to rely on the behavioral side anyway. have you noticed any change in cravings or food preferences even without the full suppression feeling?

One person experience on Tirz vs Reta is just one data point but it is useful. Some people genuinely don't respond to one and switch completely and find the other hits differently. If you are not feeling any appetite suppression at all at 12.5mg, that is worth flagging to your doctor before pushing higher.

Sitting roughly 10 lbs from goal. Figured I could just coast holding at 5mg tirz, but the pace slowed to nearly nothing. Bumped up to 7.5 this week and now I'm right back to how things felt at the very start. Have to set alarms just to remember eating. Slow's supposedly the smart approach, but at half a pound weekly, that last stretch is going to eat up five whole months, ugh.

Been on tirz for what feels like a long stretch now. Started at a much higher weight and am currently hovering in a narrower range these days, bouncing a pound or two either direction.

It slowly became clear tirz might not be doing much anymore, likely the reason behind these stretched-out plateaus. That's what's pushing a switch toward eloralintide, with another newer option on the radar as a backup plan if that doesn't pan out either, though not ready to walk away from tirz completely just yet.

Hi everyone!!
Running the original compound for beyond twelve months at this point, sitting at a fairly high amount for a while. Currently transitioning over to a different one. About a month in, and honestly nothing's registered yet. Right now I'm at 2mg of the new compound weekly plus 7.5mg of the original, split across different days. Stuck at this exact standstill for quite a stretch now, weight staying completely flat. Feeling almost defeated since everyone else seems to see such dramatic recomposition results, and I've felt basically nothing. I do stay active though, pole and Pilates classes at least three sessions weekly.
That's really it; hoping to connect with other slow responders to vent with, or pick up tips on staying patient LOL

Appreciate it, friend.

My body responded genuinely well to Tirz. Never bumped the dose higher even through plateaus though. Figured my body just needed those pauses to adjust to the new weight before it would budge further. Held at 76kg for six straight weeks during my last stall. Finally moved again once I started daily fasting.

But that first response to Elora hit noticeably faster and stronger. Never experienced hunger suppression that intense with Tirz.

Sounds like others have already covered similar ground, but I'll add mine anyway.

If you're down 107 pounds and holding steady, not gaining, the medication has clearly worked well and is still working, it's just normal to feel like it's stalled at this stage. Being a full year in matches roughly when a genuine plateau shows up, where the drug's main job becomes fighting your body's pull to regain rather than driving further loss. That amount lost, from 332 down to 219, works out to nearly a third of starting weight, which is an outstanding, above-average outcome. Your resting metabolic burn is bound to have fallen, partly from losing tissue that burns calories and partly from the body adjusting to prolonged lower intake, and appetite typically rebounds after a big loss, which makes it that much harder to keep the deficit going that further loss requires.

Worth flagging since it sounds like you've paused or stopped this medication entirely and swapped to something else ('taking a break since it seems to have completely stopped working'), which honestly seems like the wrong call here, especially given how well it's actually performed with results well above typical. Sticking with only the new option means hoping it eventually catches up

tirz did zip for me too, 2 months and the scale never moved one pound. back on sema i dropped 10lbs within three weeks, sick sure, but results are results. maybe your body just likes sema better, like mine

I need a dose that gets me losing 1.5 to 2 lbs weekly. At 5mg a week plus 3mg tirz I can't even drop a pound. Appetite is zero. Even skipping meals (which I keep having to tell myself not to do) does nothing. So frustrating. I keep going up slowly because of the no appetite thing. 18 lbs still to go.

Two things are going on. First, you already dropped some weight naturally, so it's normal for food noise to creep up: noise grows as the pounds drop. If you question whether tirz does anything, stop for 2-3 weeks and watch the outcome! My progress was much like yours. I dropped weight through intermittent fasting until it got really hard, then moved to sema and tirz. When I tried stopping, oh boy, what a rude awakening. Second, you quit nicotine, which is big. I would not done that this early. Alter a single thing at once, gradually, so you know what to adjust. That way you're sure what drives your cravings, plus how to tune doses. This is a slow process, no finish-line race.

Ugh, what a bummer. Did you already hit the max loss people usually see on tirz? I wonder if there's a point where either compound registers that roughly 20-24% of the weight you began with has vanished and it just stops doing more. Staying on it clearly doesn't keep producing loss forever, but I can't work out what mechanism shuts it off. Maybe the amount you still have to lose plays in, or a set point, or... whatever. Hoping something else turns up to shut down that starving feeling. Maybe Elora?
